My fiancé loves Heluva Good French Onion Dip. I have to admit it's pretty delish. However, I always like to challenge myself to come up with fresh homemade versions because a) they taste better and b) they're not nearly as bad for you (even if this is still packed full of cream cheese and sour cream).
This dip recipe is super easy. You'll start by caramelizing your onions for about 20 minutes in some butter and olive oil. Then combining them in a food processor with cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, parsley, celery seed, water, salt, pepper and a pinch of chili powder. Process to smooth then allow to chill in fridge until ready to serve (preferably with chips and veggies)! Enjoy!
- 1 large onion, diced
- 1 tbsp. butter
- ½ tbsp. olive oil
- 1 cup sour cream, room temp
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup water
- 1 tsp. onion powder
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- ½ tsp. parsley
- ½ tsp. celery salt
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. ground pepper
- pinch chili powder
- In a small saucepan over medium heat add butter and olive oil until warm and melty.
- Add onion and caramelize for about 20 minutes. Allow to cool.
- Add to a food processor with the rest of the ingredients.
- Process until smooth.
- Transfer to a bowl and chill in fridge until ready to serve.
