Happy 4th of July ya'll!!! I kicked my holiday off by seeing the new Independence Day at midnight at the drive-in. I hadn't been to the drive-in since elementary school, and it was so much fun! I hope you all have been having a great holiday full of family, friends, and most importantly great food and cocktails. 😉 I figured today couldn't be more fitting to share this super American cocktail with you.
The Bacon & Bourbon combines Woodford Reserve, fresh lemon juice, maple syrup, candied bacon, and just a splash of Ginger Ale. You know it's been a good 4th when you run out of your bourbon. I use whiskey ball ice cubes because not only do they look cool but they're slow-melting which keeps your drink cold without watering it down. I got mine from Amazon. Here is my recipe for Candied Bacon:
I like to stir the drink with the Candied Bacon to infuse the cocktail with it's taste. Whip one up before the fireworks tonight! Cheers!
- 3 oz Woodford Reserve (or any bourbon of your preference)
- 0.5 oz maple syrup
- 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice
- splash Ginger Ale
- Candied Bacon, garnish
- Whiskey ball ice cube
- Pour bourbon over ice in a rocks glass
- Add lemon juice and maple syrup and stir
- Top with a splash of Ginger Ale
- Stir/garnish with a strip of Candied Bacon (see recipe here: http://www.cuisineandcocktails.com/candied-bacon/)
