If I had to pick a season for drinks I think fall cocktails are my favorite. I love the spices, fall fruits, heavy liquor pours to keep you warm... not that you quite need it yet here in Columbus as it is still in 80s-90s but we can pretend. I also love fall cocktails, because I can sip them while partaking in my favorite activity which is watching Chicago Bears football. Growing up with my dad and uncles who were all raised in Chicago and played football, the Bears are basically a religion to us. This has been a religion full of ups and downs, but I've loved every minute of it and at the end of every summer I can't wait to break out my plethora of Bears jerseys to support my favorite team. My dad and I have an inside joke which first began with his brothers and these super cheap Bears watches they had back when they were my age. The watches were always broken and read different times. Instead of tossing them they made it into a pregame ritual where they would yell out "TIME CHECK" and each read off the very differing incorrect times. Granted we did win the Super Bowl that year! My dad carried on this tradition with me even without having the watches and not a single game goes by without us calling or texting each other with the inevitable "time check?!". Even before he walked me down the aisle on my wedding day he hit me with it, and after a stressful morning rushing to get to the church nothing grounded me, relaxed me and made me laugh more. I'll never forget that moment.
But back to the reason you're probably here! This tasty fall drank. I used Angel's Envy which is one of my favorite bourbons. It's got a little sweet kick resembling maple syrup and vanilla. I normally drink it straight but figured it would be perfect for this fall flavor combo. I also included Royal Rose Anise simple syrup. I'm doing a collaboration with Royal Rose. They were kind enough to send me some infused simple syrups to try out and work into cocktails, and they are SO good. I've listed their website below. Also will be doing a giveaway soon so make sure to pay attention to my Instagram (@cuisineandcocktails) linked on my contact page. This Anise flavored one is perfect for fall! It is compromised of organic unbleached sugar, organic lemon juice, organic anise and organic fennel seed. For this drink I also used apples, pears, cinnamon and rimmed the glasses with a maple syrup cinnamon sugar rim.

Line the glass rim with maple syrup then place upside down on a plate with a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon. It will stick perfectly.
In a shaker add bourbon, apple, pear, Royal Rose Anise simple syrup and a shake of cinnamon. Muddle well. Add ice and shake well.
Strain into your cinnamon-sugar rimmed glass with ice (Bears glasses optional but preferred 😉 )
Sip on one of these while watching your favorite team or partaking in your favorite fall activity. Cheers and Go Bears!
