It's National Whiskey Sour day! You might think of a whiskey sour as a shitty drink you got in college which consisted of well whiskey and some gross sticky sour mix. If you've never had a real whiskey sour can I please reset your expectations? This is what a whiskey sour should be: good quality bourbon, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, egg white (yes you read that right) and maraschino cherries.
People are super skeptical about egg whites in cocktails. I've ordered many egg white cocktails and watched my friends or coworkers shoot me horrified looks. More times than not I've talked them into trying it and watched them instantly convert. The egg white has no flavor but gives the cocktail that frothy-ness that I can only compare to the foam on your favorite latte. But with alcohol. So it's like way better.
Try out my recipe and let me know what you think!
