I present to you these deliciously, spooky Halloween Blood Bag cocktails! Halloween or more so spooky season has always been one of (if not my fav) times of year. Watching scary movies, going to haunted houses, carving pumpkins, the crisp air and Halloween parties - what's not to like?! It's trick or treat night here in Columbus, and with lots of Halloween parties coming up this weekend I wanted to share an idea for a Halloween-appropriate alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktail. Where do find "blood bags" to use for these Halloween Blood Bag Cocktails?
Amazon of course! Perfect timing with two day shipping if you want to grab them for this weekend. These guys are so easy to use. They come up with straws attached, so you can drink directly from the bag. I totally felt like I was in Vampire Diaries. A small funnel attaches to the straw to easily fill the bag. Clips are provided to snap onto the straw so nothing leaks out when hung upside down. Labels can be written on and then stuck to the bag. In order to give them a true "blood bag" look, I hung them on a string and then used these fun Halloween lights I found at Kroger to drape around. Link below to purchase.

What to shake up for Halloween Blood Bag Cocktails:
Any cocktail can be put into these bags as long as it's not thick - basically avoid anything with muddled fruit as it'll get stuck in the straw. I kept it simple on the ingredients but mixed up three different cocktails to give my guests variety. If you want the red of the "blood" to be even deeper, add some red food coloring. Here are the different punch variations:
Bourbon Blood Bag:
The first was a bourbon cocktail. Don't worry, I snapped this ingredient shot AFTER I used the bourbon which is why it's almost empty! 😉 I simply mixed it with some cranberry juice, Tazo Passion tea and some fresh lemon juice. Simple, but tasty.
Vodka Blood Bag:
I also filled some bags with a vodka cocktail for any non-bourbon drinkers. I used the exact same ingredients just subbed bourbon for vodka.
Alcohol-free Blood Bag:
And then I created some with no alcohol at all for anyone who doesn't drink or is pregnant. Same ingredients minus spirit!
How to tell which Halloween Blood Bag Cocktail is which:
The great thing about the labels being customizable is you can note which cocktail is which by "blood type". For example, type B = the bourbon drink, type O = vodka, etc. Simply write out a little key for your guests next to where the bags are hung.
Enjoy and happy Halloween!!
