Cheers to Saturday! Sorry for the lack of posts over the last couple weeks. Things have been a little crazy! I was in NYC for work, I celebrated my birthday with family and friends and then I was just in Michigan the last two days. April has been a fab month, and it's about to get even better because I leave for Key West for my friends bachelorette party on Thursday! I've never been so if ya'll have any suggestions for while I'm there leave them in the comments!
Now on to more important things like Saturday day drinking. This cocktail is perfect for springtime patio sippin'! I call it One in a Melon, because it features watermelon, and I'm embarrassed to admit how much I love puns.
To concoct this tasty little treat you will need gin, Aperol, simple syrup, lemon juice, watermelon chunks and club soda. If you're unfamiliar with Aperol, it is an Italian apéritif. When you try it you'll be able to pick up a medley of fruity, floral and herbal notes. I use it in another cocktail listed on the blog (see below). I recommend picking up a bottle. It's easy to combine with a variety of drinks and just takes your cocktail game up a notch.
Anyway - to make this drink simply add all ingredients to a shaker (aside from soda). Muddle the watermelon into the liquid. Add ice, shake well, strain into a wine glass with ice. Top with soda and enjoy!
- 1.5 oz gin
- 0.75 oz Aperol
- 0.5 oz simple syrup
- 0.5 oz lemon juice
- 3-4 chunks of watermelon
