Cranberries in cocktails have been popping up all over lately for Christmas-themed drinks. I have several on my blog already, but let's not forget about another holiday-appropriate fruit. Pomegranate! I just love the tartness of pomegranate. And just one goes a long way in terms of the juice you can squeeze out.
This cocktail combines gin with fresh pomegranate juice, sage-infused simple syrup and lemon juice for a tart yet sweet party in your mouth. The earthiness from the sage, combined with these flavors is to die for. And gin is perfect for Christmas, because of the juniper! Non-gin fans complain gin tastes like a Christmas tree, so for those of us who love it what a perfect Christmas drink! 😉
**Note: pomegranates are messy so be careful when cutting! I use a large cutting board, cut off the ends, then quarter them. Simply expel the seeds into a bowl.
For the sage-infused simple syrup, add about ½ cup sugar and ½ cup water to a small pot. Bring to boil and toss in about 5-6 sage leaves. Turn down heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Set aside to cool. You can store in your fridge in an airtight container for 2 weeks.
Cheers!!
