Cheers to the weekend (almost)! I came up with the recipe for these martinis last weekend as we celebrated my birthday in a very different way - under quarantine. My husband, family and friends still went above and beyond to make my day special even if we weren't able to go out and celebrate in our usual way. Instead we had a game day and played beer pong in our backyard then got all dressed up (almost forgot how to do my hair/makeup LOL), and had Lindey's deliver dinner and champagne (which was amazing btw!). I had tons of people send me kind messages, cards, gifts, posts on social media and my friend Lauren even dropped off treats she made from scratch and a shot of tequila which she did with me from the street! My mom got me an adorable cat bracelet which I just love! While things are clearly different than most years, it's important to still celebrate milestones and enjoy life. Two of my good friends' birthdays are this weekend, and so I felt this cocktail was still appropriate. Can't wait to have a big party when this is all over!
To make the Sparkletini, you'll need vodka, St Germain, simple syrup, lemon juice, luxardo cherries, Prosecco (or any sparkling wine) and sprinkles for the rim!
Anyone can make this cocktail! It's sweet, yet tart and invigorating. I think birthday cake martinis are super fun, but since I don't have the biggest sweet tooth I'd rather something more light and refreshing. And since it was my birthday, we do what I want, right?!
If you're not familiar with St Germain its an elderflower liqueur with notes of grapefruit, pear, lemon and jasmine. I use it in a lot of other cocktails you'll find on C&C. It's definitely worth picking up a bottle as it goes great with many drinks and a little bit goes a long way.
Cheers!!
If you like this drink, might I suggest:
- 1.5 oz vodka
- 0.75 oz St Germain
- 0.5 oz simple syrup
- 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice
- Luxardo cherries & juice
- top with Prosecco (or sparkling wine)
- sprinkles for rim
- Use a brush to apply simple syrup around rim of martini glass (or dip in shallow dish).
- Place sprinkles in a shallow dish and dip martini glass in sprinkles so they stick to syrup.
- Add vodka, St Germain, simple syrup, lemon juice and 2-3 teaspoon Luxardo cherry juice to a shaker.
- Add ice and shake well for 60 seconds. Add more cherry juice if desired.
- Strain into martini glass.
- Drop a cherry into glass.
- Top with Prosecco.
