Hi friends! It's the WEEKEND! I'm so excited to have a more chill one after the last couple. My friend Silvi got married here in Columbus and then last weekend Brad and I traveled to Dallas for one of my best friends from high school, Alex's, wedding. Both were beautiful and so much fun! Next week I'm off to AZ to stand by my best friend Whitney's side on her wedding day! (It is very clearly wedding season.) Sooo this weekend I'm doing a lot of relaxing. Aside from tomorrow when I'm going wedding dress shopping with my mom, because hey I'm getting married too! 😉 (We should turn this post into a drinking game... every time you read the word "wedding" take a sip of this cocktail.) Today is the first real day it's actually felt like fall here in Columbus, Ohio. I'm taking full advantage by sipping on this cool weather appropriate drink!
This Spiked Pomegranate Punch is made of whiskey, Grand Marnier, honey-clove simple syrup, fresh lemon juice, pomegranate juice & club soda. You could make it as individual cocktails or in a large bowl punch-style. Tonight I just did individuals. I love whiskey with pomegranate juice, and the addition of the infused simple syrup with the Grand Marnier's orange kick creates a very fall-like melody. The club soda cuts through the flavors a bit to lighten it up and add a refreshing element.
**To make simple syrup: bring a mixture of honey, sugar and whole cloves to boil in water over high heat. Stir until honey and sugar have combined with water. Simmer for about 5 minutes. Strain out cloves.
Cheers!
