Happy Saturday!! We're heading out here shortly to celebrate my husband's birthday, but I just wanted to hop on to share one of my favorite cocktail recipes! The Vanilla Bean Old Fashioned. I love Old Fashioneds in general, but the one on the menu at M has always been a favorite. I decided to create a similar one at home, and it's been what we've been sipping on these past two weekends.
**You'll need to start by making a vanilla bean simple syrup. Purchase vanilla beans from the spice area of your local grocery store. In a small saucepan add water and sugar. Bring to boil and stir to dissolve sugar. Add vanilla beans sliced open and expel most of their contents. Turn down to a simmer for about 10-15 minutes. Allow to fully cool before using. You can store in your fridge for about two weeks.**
Combine bourbon, vanilla bean simple syrup, fresh lemon juice and fresh orange juice in a rocks glass with an ice ball. Stir well. Garnish with an orange peel and some cherries. Cheers!
