Ingredients for Winter Bourbon Cocktail with Apricot:
For this cocktail you'll need bourbon, vanilla, a couple apricots, fresh lemon juice, ground cinnamon and brown sugar simple syrup. Also cinnamon sticks make for a fun garnish! I actually love to infuse bourbon (and other spirits) with herbs, spices and flavors. I used Woodford Reserve infused with vanilla beans for this cocktail.
How to Make Vanilla Bean Infused Bourbon:
Pick up some vanilla beans. You can find them in the spice section of your grocery store or order online. Simply split down the center to open up the pod and drop into a bottle of bourbon. If you don't want to use a whole bottle then you can use an empty glass bottle (as I did here) and incorporate that way. It takes about two weeks to fully infuse.
How to Make Brown Sugar Simple Syrup:
In a small saucepan add ½ cup brown sugar and ½ cup water. Bring water to boil and stir to dissolve brown sugar. Turn down to low and simmer for about 5 minutes. Allow to cool prior to using.
What if I don't have time to make vanilla bean infused bourbon?
No problem. You can also infuse vanilla beans into your simple syrup. Follow the recipe above but also add a sliced open vanilla bean once water comes to boil. If you can't get your hands on vanilla bean, this cocktail is still delicious without it.
Instructions for Winter Bourbon Cocktail with Apricot:
In a shaker add vanilla infused bourbon, apricot, syrup and lemon juice. Muddle the apricot pieces into the liquid. Add cinnamon. Add ice, cover and shake well for about 45 seconds. Strain into a glass with fresh ice and garnish with a cinnamon stick. Cheers!

Ingredients
- 2 oz vanilla bean infused bourbon directions in post
- 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice
- 2 apricots sliced into chunks, pits removed
- 0.5 oz brown sugar simple syrup directions in post
- pinch ground cinnamon
- cinnamon stick garnish
- ice
Instructions
- Add bourbon, lemon, syrup and apricots to a shaker.
- Muddle apricots into liquid.
- Add cinnamon and ice.
- Cover and shake well for 45 seconds.
- Strain into a fresh glass with ice and garnish with cinnamon stick.
